Guide to Size and Fit
Most brands offered at Footwise use a European sizing scale. To determine your European size we recommend using the size conversion charts linked to each style. If the brand offers U.S. sizing (e.g., TEVA) you can order the U.S. size directly from the size drop down. If you are unsure about which size to purchase we recommend you e-mail, phone or use Live Help for speedy advice.
FAX a Tracing of Your Feet
You may mail or fax tracings of your feet for size determination. Our fax number is (541) 752-6313.
- Stand on a blank piece of paper with your weight equally distributed on both feet.
- Have someone else trace around both feet with a pen. Hold the pen straight up and down while tracing.
- Write your U.S. size and width inside the foot tracing.
- To help us determine whether your faxed tracings are life-size, place a ruler the length of the paper and transfer each of the inch marks to the paper (see figure).
Why Find the Ideal Fit for Contoured Footbeds
Only a proper fit gives you the full benefit of a contoured footbed: a stable heel, a little extra room around the toes and heel, and support for all of the foot's arches.
How to Find the Proper Length for Contoured Cork Footbeds?
Stand in your footwear, place your heel in the heel cup, and check to see where your toes land. If they land along a toe ridge at the tip of the shoes, your shoes are too short; if they land on the toebar, they are too long. A perfect fit places your toes in the space between the toes and toe ridge. In shoes without a toebar, the fit can be a little tighter because of the upper materials, but your toes should not touch the front of the shoes.
If you choose a brand with a cork/latex footbed, like Birkenstock, you will find that in a very short amount of time the footbed will mold to the contours of your arches creating a perfect harmony of support and fit.
